Milling: Machine precision – the physical model starts to take shape

HOTE has several ultramodern five axis milling machines for computer controlled processing of plastic-coated blanks. These include various full-size milling machines for producing models of vehicles in a 1:1 scale. After a rough preliminary run (or ‘scrubbing’) the model details are cut during a second milling process using the CAD data (‘finishing’).

While work is carried out on the model of the vehicle bodywork, we prepare separate elements, such as bumpers, for assembly at a later point.

We then use special measurement stations to continuously monitor the precision with which the CAD data specifications are translated into the physical model.
